Green Neighborhood Center
Neighbors used to depend on one another more than they do now. For example, when someone was driving into town to pick up something, she might ask the neighbors if they needed anything while she was there. If a farmer needed to build a barn, his neighbors would help. This willingness to work together is the basic spirit behind the green neighborhood center.
It is intended to be a place where neighbors and local community members can communicate and participate in common intiatives that will serve both personal and public needs. By acting together, we can reduce our collective carbon footprint, cut costs, and create socially responsible markets. Take a look at our green initiatives in the menu on the upper right-hand side of this page to see how..
Any local group of people can form a green neighborhood or community--actual neighborhoods, church groups, groups of people who work together, and high schools, colleges, or universities.
